For many years WWII was credited with saving the US Economy from the Great Depression. I think there is some truth to that.

Even though times are much different now there are some similarities. And although I cannot find much good to say about war at all whenever a lot of money is spent because of a US war effort there are at least a good number of Americans employed for those dollars spent.
