Re: 'A worsening situation in Iraq and a feeling that the WH doesn't know what it's doing will cost him, even against a nitwit like Kerry.'

>>> I agree.

>>> But the odds still favor him being able to 'throw a bandage over the bleeding'... at least long enough to coast through the election win.

>>> Also: in American politics, money talks! And Bush has a clear advantage in campaign funds.

Rummy says US troops still control Iraq. Thank goodness! Whew! For a moment, I was thinking maybe things have gone out of control! ;-)

Bill, I see this as an opportunity to be taken or lost. If we decide to take it, here is the scenario, the bad guys have come out in the open. We should ATTACK, ATTACK, ATTACK with absolutely no letup 24-7. I know it would be exhausting for our troops but even more so for the enemy. Plus the continual attacks would tend to demoralize any fence sitters from becoming involved with the bad guys, not to mention buttressing up the fortitude of the Iraqi defense forces which seem to be buckling. On the other hand, if we show indecision, slow to attack, stop and start we will allow the enemy to grow and diffuse further through the population like a cancer spreading through your lymph glands. If that is what we do, then I predict the handwriting is on the wall, we will eventually cut and run and all this will have been in vain. Probably will cost Bush the election. So, its his decision to make.
Frankly, I blame a lot of this on Kerry and his crew as he has emboldened the bad guys to give it their best shot. jdn
