Thanks to everyone for the posts and the encouragement. Let me briefly follow up. First, while this certainly isn't Viet Nam (despite what the Iraqi clerics say), neither is it WWII or even Korea. Those were fairly protracted conflicts with heavy resultant defense spending, especially WWII. I don't see that here - just a lot of disruption without increased economic activity. And looking at the WWII chart this morning (and thanks again for it), there was a big drop in the markets in the first part. But I don't think that's the point here.

Rather, I think the point is that the market has for three months now at least shown every sign of being manic, nervous and jittery. Here's just another reason. Furthermore, the terrorists love to see the impact they have on western economies and markets with the terror they spread and it serves as an incentive that motivates them to try their desperate bullshit with renewed energy. I guess that a nice, peaceful upward climb in value is just not in the cards. I agree Bob that ultimately value will carry the day in the stock prices. My concern is that the noise level is extremely high right now and that bothers me. For those who love the adrenaline rush that comes with the risk associated with high volatility, you're walking in tall cotton right now. Jess.
