People like that ought to stay out of politics. That doesn't make Linda Tripp anything good, however. Didn't she befriend a silly, immature girl and then secretly gather evidence against her. Look what she did for that Monica friend of hers. Some Benedict Arnold things just turn my stomach and I don't believe she did it out of a sense of patriotic fervor. It had nothing to do with the running of the country and only affected Clinton, Monica and their friends and family. As for your friend "good guy Jake;" it's his sheep in wolf's clothing hypocrisy that turns my stomach. The fact that he's a right wing whacko just puts him in the same category with a lot of others. Sometimes I think you get dangerously close to that line yourself. g. Condi Rice did a good job of doing what she does best; answering questions and showing off her knowledge. If you want form over substance, she's your huckleberry. If you want someone innovative, in depth and willing to work outside the box and get things done, you better look elsewhere. How many times did she say, "no one told me that I had to act on that?" You're family is held hostage by some bad guys, they have outside support, you can call on Clarke or Condi Rice to handle it and you can't; who ya gonna call? I've seen lots of A student Condi Rices in my past education and then profession. They learned everything and couldn't put any of it to use. When I was on our school board we inherited a "brilliant" superintendent who was running our 9 school district. She had a doctorate, a great resume, was a great learner and a real polite people pleaser and she had absolutely no ability to solve a problem. She screwed things up big time. I pushed and pushed and finally the other members took a close look. It took more than a year for a consensus to fire her. We did and her replacement didn't even have a master's degree. The replacement is a real problem solver and he has many innovative ideas. When he presents the problem he also presents alternative solutions and his recommendations. I see strong parallels between those two, and Clarke and Rice. But the "form" of her testimony was very, very, very good.
