The big parties are splintering. Some Dems still want Nader or Kucinich while some Republicans want Armageddon. Dean really threw a monkey wrench into the entire equation. As long as the net is easily accessible and the media doesn't get more corrupted, there is a chance for outside-the-main candidates to get their positions heard.

Dean could have gotten the nomination but it really appears that he never expected to get that far and didn't really want it. Maybe there was some self-sabotage going on there.
