And the avowed PURPOSE of the 9/11
commission was not supposed to be politics.

I'm not a terribly political person, but, given that it's a bipartisan commission, and given that the families of victims would involve themselves (on either side) shouldn't we have expected a "political" discussion?

There was an investigation shortly after Pearl Harbor in 1942 by the Roberts Commission.

However, it is generally agreed to have been a whitewash of Washington. Admiral Kimmel and General Short, the commanders in Hawaii, were crucified as sacrificial lambs and th blame for the disaster laid on them when in fact most of it belonged in DC. It has since been admitted by the gov't that the Roberts report was seriously flawed and he general and admiral were not provided with the necessary info and orders to allow them to be ready for the attack.

If the Roosevelt admin had been investigated like this after Pearl Harbor, he would have been impeached and his cabinet would have gone to jail.

Re. the "threats and scars" post:

I can see how that came off as strange-- even vaguely threatening-- to you. That wasn't my intention and I apologize.
