Friday April 09, 2004--Senator John F. Kerry leads President George W. Bush 46% to 44% in the latest Rasmussen Reports Presidential Tracking Poll. Last night's single night of tracking was the President's best in over a week.

This boost for Bush may be the result of Condoleezza Rice's testimony, statistical noise, or merely a coincidence. It remains to be seen if it represents a blip or real movement. However, Rice did receive good reviews from American voters.

Also, the President's Job Approval ratings moved back to the 50% mark following three days at 49% (their lowest level of the year). Ultimately, the President's ratings and the November election are likely to be decided by what happens in Iraq over the coming months.

In a survey conducted over the past two nights, voters still prefer Bush over Kerry when it comes to the War on Terror. However, the preference for Bush is down a few points from a week ago. As for managing the economy, voters are still fairly evenly divided between Bush and Kerry.

The Rasmussen Reports Presidential Tracking Poll is updated daily by noon Eastern.
