"including one that suggested al-Qaida operatives were considering flying a plane into a U.S. embassy, current and former government officials said"

this is news to me.. any reference on this?

The report to be released is historical , there is nothing in it about Al Q flying planes into any buildings.

It was to be a summary of what is going on , we knew they are were trying to bomb the United States. Al Q. stated so prior. The senator who headed up congressional 911 investation said report was historical nothing in it about flying planes into buildings. He didn't go into details..

This is a democrat effort to blemish Bush for the election(it appears to be working).

Too bad we are not looking forward. too bad we do not have democrats trying to support our troops vs tearing the country apart to get back into power at the cost of freedom for Iraq. For ted Kennedy to call this vietnam where we lost so many troops is just alarming the general public and is very irresponsible.
