Do you really believe that a) electors and b) regular members will not hold Harper's performance as Leader of the Opposition (taking a pro US invasion of Iraq stance) as a clear indication of how Harper would lead the country in matters such as this?

That is the question that electors will be asked to vote upon. They have a pretty limited ability to discern subtleties. Harper said it, he meant it, they will be forced to remember it by the Liberal election machine, and his forceful opinions come back to him and be his cross to bear.

You can't praise his performance in all other areas and then suggest that pesky little foreign policy issue (Iraq) - and Harper's unconditional support of US policy - be overlooked.

It won't happen.
