Because the perpetrators said so themselves:

The TVA network reported that sources say the notes denounced recent attacks against Palestinians, including the killing of Sheik Ahmed Yassin, leader of the Islamic Hamas movement.

Reports quoted a portion of the letter Monday night. The network reported the note warned: "Our goal was only to sound the alarm without causing deaths. . . .but this is just a beginning. If your crimes continue in the Middle East, our attacks will continue."

If someone trashes a public library, does this mean that the act is anti -Canadian?

Yes.

I consider illegal violent acts against property, people and public places to be "anti-Canadian", "un-Canadian" and just plain wrong.

Everyone, including our Prime Minister has already over-reacted to something that may be just a prank.

If you put aside the predictable political over-posturing, a political and societal response is still required to condemn such acts.

Just a prank? If a Mosque were torched, would it be a prank? If your home was torched, would you consider that a prank?

Its arson.

Last time I checked arson was a criminal code offense.

The note left behind incites hate and threatens an identifiable minority group.

Last time I checked, inciting hate is a crime as well.

Neither crime alone is a prank.

Its really quite amazing that you've morphed this arson into a mere "act of vandalism" in your mind.

Having said that, after reading your follow up posts, its not amazing at all.

Just predictable.
