<The Ferrari's kinetic energy = 0.5 x 1.5 x 300 x 300 is only a third of the truck's 0.5 x 30 x 50 x 50. 67,500 units versus 37,500.> Oooops, I edited to make the figures more explanatory and neglected to change the "only a third" bit, which is wrong. Call it a driving mistake - failing to keep left [which is what we do here]. My arithmetic collided with my words. Oh well. I wonder if CB will pick it up or will have given up at the first sight of numbers. Mq

The day I became a US citizen was one of the high points of my life. Cruch, splat, energy and momentum conservation I do think we - ie Mack & Ferarri & Honda & Yugo & Rabbit & Proton ... make your pick - are all driving on the same side of the highway, ie more or less the same direction, are we not? Head-on collision? I'd finesse the equation with a cosine of the angle of divergence[]...
