I don't disagree with you, but there is something to be said about the "devil you know."

I don't ascribe to the extreme views of either. They are both politicians with politician traits, opportunists, panderers, etc. Neither would intentionally put the US in jeopardy I believe. Both have people they "owe" and to whom they would pander.

The extreme religious stuff frightens me but I don't see Kerry saying anything much different although I know he won't pander to them. I'd like to see him be dynamic and actually come out and say that it's absurd to spend any time, with all the issues we face, on drug interdiction, abortion, gay marriage, porno, etc. If people want this stuff, it's up to them and you can't stop it. Other than obvious stuff like protecting kids and stopping any violent issues, why waste resources.

Instead, the anti-Bush crowd is tilting at windmills and trying to nuance the Iraq and terror issues. It may work, but I don't think it will. I think Bush wins by default on those issues, just my opinion. Jesse Jackson gave Kerry the same advice yesterday or the day before.
