Burns, BTW for those who don't know, is a NYT correspondent who has also reported on Nightline and Jim Lehrer; exactly why he was imprisoned I don't know

Burns was held hostage by some of Al Sadr's thugs; he reported on it in the Times. I posted the link on this thread.

Saw Perle give chalabi a boost. What a crock.

You may already know this, but Juan Cole says he partially believes an argument that much of what is going on in Iraq right now is an attempt to clear the ground for Chalabi to take control of whatever passes for an Iraqi government in July. He has a very specific argument that one would need much more information than I have to evaluate. But it is highly suggestive and, yes, another argument to keep in mind while thinking about Iraq.
