Clearly the Saudis have financed terror for years, largely under the impression that they could ensure their longevity in power. If there is a conspiracy that needs to be unmasked, it is why the US continues to hide their ties to those who support terrorist groups, particularly financial support. That said, I can't imagine that anyone connected to the Saudi government would actually go along with the 9/11 attacks. Why cut their own throat? It's just as foolish as those who argue that Israel had something to do with 9/11. The Saudis probably felt they could passively and financially support terror as they have gotten away with that for years but, as far as actively knowing about 9/11, that takes a stretch. I'm afraid that conspiracy dilution will continue to prevent real issues from being investigated, one of which is the subject of your post. The idiots who post about France, Russia, Israel, Mossad, Bush, Cheney, etc., provide noise that is pretty much ignored. However, there is so much effort now trying to place blame on Clinton or Bush or their subordinates, that the real issues may never really be addressed. Of course, Rice knew about OBL and his desires to attack the US. There is nothing that indicates anyone knew about WTC 9/11, not even one shred of evidence. There are thousands of threats. There are probably threats of nukes or suitcase nukes. Does that mean that someone "knows" it's going to happen? The Saudi issue is a key one as it undermines the war on terror. The Pakistan issue is also critical, and that ranges from actual harboring of terrorists to nuclear proliferation. Further, as Condi Rice testified, there are "systemic" issues, none of which seems to have been remedied, even by bureaucratic shuffling of players and massive appropriations. We need fundamental change and that has to happen in Congress with a re-evaluation of statutes that control the agencies and the relationships among them. A courageous administration is needed to start the ball rolling. Will it be Kerry who can do this or will he just coast along?
