He took the word of the anti-American hospital head-a sunni in Fallujah couldn't be anything else-without any check. You can be sure that if the Marines had announced the opposite, he would have qualified the answer. We know that the casualties have been due to rifle fire. The marines have used almost no heavy weapons in Fallujah. This figure is so phoney on the face of it that it is outrageous to report it this way.
