So far we have paid dictators for energy for SUVs. That's what's gotten us into this mess. We are like junkies, we are beholden to the pushers.

Somehow we think that using guns to hold up a pusher will solve our problems. Nope. Even if we kill one pusher another will pop up. Duh!

The solution is to make ourselves non dependent and then to support democracies like Mossedeq instead of deposing them. But you know kicking is way harder than using a gun to hold up a pusher. It takes time and patience.

You're right. And oil isn't any cheaper right now. But, let's see, which thriving Democracy was Saddam really threatening?
