SAN FRANCISCO (CBS.MW) -- NovaStar Financial said late Monday that its lending operations and branches were in good standing in all states where it does business.

NovaStar (NFI: news, chart, profile) said it has been reviewed by numerous state and federal agencies in the past seven years.

"As NovaStar has grown, we have paid close attention to compliance and we work closely with the agencies to resolve any issues or disagreement that arises," CEO Scott Hartman said.

NovaStar shares, which tumbled 30.8 percent to end the regular session at $37.50, gained 4.5 percent to change hands for $39.20 in late trade.
