Flat Tax: 1. I do my own taxes. I find it to be a data collection exercise - not a caluclation exercise. It would be a whole lot simpler if there were no deductions. If it were somewhat progressive that would not violate the principal of simplicity. 2. I also see merit in a VAT tax. Today to much illegal money escapes taxation. Bottom line - it should be simple and inclusive. Today it is not simple and there are too many loop holes - both on the high end and low end.
