"Why did Clinton/Gore leave the world in such a mess?" Neither Clinton or Gore had anything to do with supporting Saddam as Reagan did. Nor did they leave the job undone in Iraq as Bush Sr. did. As well, Afghanistan was a creation of Reagan's. Fill the country with bombs and fanatics and then leave it to its own devices after the Soviet pullout spelled trouble from the get go. So if your looking for short sighted thinking, look no further than the republicans.
