Frankly, I'm afraid that before this is over, someone will be slaughtered--again. Many groups, in fact. The number and type of weapons that private people have in Iraq continually astounds me.

If one were an optimist, you could hope that all the Iraqi ethnic groups will unite against the US and ignore their own differences.

I can't recall which member of Congress it was speaking on C-SPAN, but he had been to Iraq on several occasions and remarked on the weapons situation. I think his words were: All of Iraq is an arms depot. He cited one particular facility that was 5 miles square and filled with weapons 10 ft. high. It's unguarded by any forces, US or Iraqi, and all anyone has to do is drive in and load up all the weapons you can carry.
