History records and tells us that a strong military is the best deterrent to being over run and enslaved by the baddies... I have posted my thoughts, on how to survive, here before, but I will repeat for your edification ..... Decapitate the head of the monster not the tenacles, they will die off without a nerve center. Employ super secret black ops and special ops to get the job done. Fug the rest of the world we can't afford to care what they may or may not think of us, it is about our survival. Now Ed, I suspect you are a retired teacher out in Arizona or Colorado, and that is just fine, but put yourself in the streets of New York on 9/11 for a minute.......our deadly force is justified. ps...I have looked at the history of VietNam and Ho Chi Min and I have no problem with his desire to free VN from the colonial abuse of China and then France, I don't think we should have ever committed our forces there to begin with but that is hindsight........all of SE Asia falling to the communists was the thinking of the day..... we were on our way to de-escalating and negotiating with NVN when Jane and Kerry were at their peak, they were youthful, idealistic, zealots.....no problem...until they went against our government and our forces whom were still in the field both as combatants and as prisoners.... Shame on both of them..I hope there is accountability for the two of them someday, they deserve it... In 10 years you will be reading how 1 nation stood up to global terrorism, looked it in the eye and said "No more", "Not here". Yes it will have cost more than our fair share in human life, and that is unfortunate, but someone has to stand up to and remove the cancer........ pps....you're way out of line comparing our 2 or 3 atrocities to the everyday brutality of the NVA and especially the VC. at least though they had the clarity of purpose and mindset to know and do what it took to defeat their enemy, I respect them for that. from Chuck
