No comment on Europe, but as far as Japan goes, I don't think it was due to AMD. AMD is being investigated too, though AMD denies this. Intel is always receptive to feedback, so don't understand why they conducted a raid.

This looks more like a Japan thing. The raid happened immediately after Intel paid China nearly a billion dollars. China and Japan sometimes ruffle each other - wonder if this raid is how Japan is signaling its displeasure or concerns about China? Or, maybe Intel's growth simply made Japan feel concerned about their own suppliers? The other option is that someone at Intel Japan did something wrong, though rather unlikely since Intel does extensive training on the laws.
