Brushwud - Thanks for you comments. I know you didn't say this but actually I don't believe I ever said that abortion should be illegal. I believe that a society should have the right to define what is permissible and what is not. What I would like to see is consistency and honesty. Rather than rationalize away the humanity of a subclass, let's be honest and admit we are killing then and we've decided that it's OK under certain circumstances. Once we've come to grips with that we can start killing our worst criminals without moral or ethical conflicts. And why stop there? We can also kill our insane, aged, retarded and other undesirables. The precedence has been set. If we simply change the legal definition of who is human we can really clean house! If human status can be granted by some arbitrary standard then can't we also take it away by some other arbitrary standard? If human status doesn't start at the very beginning than why do we have to wait until the very end to revoke it?
