Just heard that Tim Russert will have Kerry on Meet the Press this Sunday for the full hour.

I hope he is in good form and not, as he was recently in a far more brief interview on Fox, stilted and defensive. I continue to believe that Biden would have been a better choice than Kerry for the Democrats, if only because he has a better extemporaneous manner. But that is not how it is.

It's also based on the assumption that Kerry could widen the "coalition of the willing" (though I'm sure under a new name--that one has acquired some creepy associations, for me at least and I suspect for others as well). And that some Arab countries that are acceptable to Iraqis would and could come in and help train an Iraqi army and police force. And that the Sunnis can be convinced somehow that the Shia won't do unto them as they did unto the Shia. And that Kurds won't press too hard for the autonomy that they have become used to over the past decade.

There are problems everywhere, that Perle and others somehow believed Chalabi could smooth over--or more likely didn't even bother to consider. But these problems will exist no matter who is in charge. If only the oil was more evenly spread throughout the country, dividing it would make the most sense.
