OT

More appropriate to the philosophy thread

Odd Duck, I dont think so, as I would flock with your description. I think a good deal of the population on this thread would agree to your thoughts. I just dont feel sorry anymore for those "fools" that live for the moment. There seems to be that odd twinkle in the eye of someone who has flamed out and in the end, Im the one that thinks maybe I should "step out" a bit.

Thank god for your friend, who, without his extra consumtive habits we would all be living in an ecomony fueled by "the conservative ones" Which I guess means, we would only have a good economy when the economy sucked ;^D

Good Luck!

Hi Thurston, my car went to the dealer for servicing so was looking at their new cars while waiting. Am really into the technology galore, so asked to see what they had as extras these days. On one hand, I was really excited to see some of the new technology finally making its way into autos so I can finally use technology that's been around for ages, but have to say, I wasn't pleased with their progress.

The cars are so frustratingly far behind on the computer technology, that rather than waiting for them to catch up, I'll probably just spec out a car computer and ask my friend to build it for my birthday. Another friend of mine found a really sleek chasi that is so tiny, shiny, and cute from a vendor in Fremont, so we'll probably use that as the auto server and place it in the trunk. I'm thinking of installing: wifi, gps, downloadable CNN with text-to-voice, multimedia plug points, A/V connectors, server for other wifi enabled computer devices in the car, outside and inside video cameras for safety (I'm really big on safety), traveling software loaded on the auto server, etc.

Would really love if I could press a button in the car that triggers a video capture of any car tailgating me, and then transmits the jpeg image to the local police station for them to follow up, with the image of the license # and car, as well as speed, distance from bumper, appropriate gps coordinates and projected direction. A colleague of mine said he called the police the other day because he was driving down Hwy 101 and saw the guy in the car next to him snorting coccaine while driving on the highway! No kidding. My colleague had to write down this guy's license # while driving - cars should be equipped to do this automatically with zoom video and video recognition of the shape and color of the license plates in the USA.

You have to drive an SUV if you don't want a tailgater on your bumper. This is one reason why SUV's have spread in the USA.

Regards,
Amy J
