It's the numbers. As long as someone can stand up and say there are hundreds and thousands of Iraqi security people on the payroll, what does the admin care if they don't have guns, radios, cars or doors on their police stations?

The propaganda is so bad, it's shocking to hear Bush say things are going well while Joel Klein says that no one in Washington has any optimism left.

You've gotta remember, Pat, that those police were trained rapidly for public relations purposes, rather than for quality of duty.
