5:53PM Linear Technology Q3 earnings reach $85.5 million (LLTC) by Rex Crum SAN FRANCISCO (CBS.MW) -- Chipmaker Linear Technology (LLTC) on Tuesday reported a third-quarter net profit of $85.5 million, or 27 cents a share, on revenue of $209 million. The company beat the estimates of analysts surveyed by Thomson First Call who forecasted a profit of 25 cents a share and sales of $204.2 million. Linear's chips are used in computers and industrial applications, as well as in networking products and handheld computers
