Thanks, tc! I will go through all those auto-play troubleshooting steps - I have already checked in Windows that the box for auto-play cd is toggled. I think there is a gremlin in the cd drive. I actually got one software to launch by clicking on the actually program, but after it did, the computer went into Safe Mode. Also, when I shutdown the computer, the cd drive opens when the computer powers down - how weird is that?

I just realized when I read these items that it is for XP - the computer that is giving me the problem is 98 - should I not use this steps then?
