lurqer,

Re: Don't mistake reason and subtlety for timidity.

Why not? Most Americans do. And that is who we need to MOVE!

***
You'll perhaps recall a famous line from the 1956 election. Adlai Stevenson had just given a fantastic "reason and subtlety" stump speech. The crowd was excited. So much so that one fellow yelled out, "Adlai, you've got the vote of every thinking American!" To which Adlai retorted, "that's not good enough, we need a majority!".

Face facts, Bush isn't going to campaign on "reason and subtlety". WHY SHOULD WE? In order to play into the dirty little hands of Karl Rove who knows how to capture the red-neck red-meat vote?

BAN MILK-TOASTS!

Reason and subletting? BAN DOWNERS! BAH, HUMBUG! And black sheep.

Mr. Bush's GOP is The Party of Personal Responsibility...

AWOL during the Vietnam war.
AWOL before 9/11.
AWOL right now--there is some bass fishing that has to be done and then some gopher hunting. I'll get back to the Iraq thing later.
