The station appears to have reverted, if only temporarily, to its previous Hispanic format. Two stories from radioandrecords.com:radioandrecords.com Air America Chief Chastises LA, Chicago Station Owner In a statement confirming that KBLA/Los Angeles and WNTD/Chicago owner Multicultural Radio Broadcasting has temporarily removed Air America's programming from the stations, Air America Chairman Evan Cohen chastised Multicultural — from whom Air America leases time on the stations — for taking such a drastic measure in the midst of negotiations between the two sides. "Multicultural Radio Broadcasting's conduct in this matter has been disgraceful," Cohen says. "To shut off a broadcast that listeners rely on without warning and in the middle of discussions is the height of irresponsibility and a slap in the face of the media industry. In addition, it is a clear violation of their contractual obligations, and we are seeking legal remedies against them in court." R&R hears the two sides have arrived at an impasse over a payment Multicultural owner Arthur Liu contends the network owes him for leasing the stations. R&R's calls to Multicultural have not yet been returned at press time. Air America Stations Off The Air Air America/Los Angeles Market Manager Bob Visotcky confirms to R&R that KBLA has removed Air America from the station, but declined to comment further on why the liberal talk network's programming was taken off the station. WNTD/Chicago has also removed Air America programming from its station, and while an Air America spokesman declined to comment on the matter, he did say that he was "collecting information" and would know more later today. While it was not confirmed what WNTD is airing at this time, R&R has confirmed that KBLA is airing a network feed of Radio Formula, a Spanish-language News/Talk network based in Mexico. Calls to WNTD's main telephone line are greeted by a message that announces the station is "not accepting calls at this time." KBLA and WNTD are both owned by Arthur Liu's Multicultural Radio Broadcasting.
