Hi Sig; Re: "So, what is your answer to Hawk?"

Same as before. If you want my answer to YOU, on the other hand, I'll simply note that it is only possible for an Arab government to control Arab militants in an Arab country. We need to get Iraq back under Iraqi control immediately, even if the Iraqis that are in control detest us intensely.

With someone in control, we can back off and use the tactics that we are so good at, namely bombing from high altitude and other high tech stuff.

Re: "If you like numbers try this , Saddam had around 400k troops and what percent deserted 50% , 60% ? Maybe 200k. Divide that figure into the number of US deserters and you will get the odds of the US cutting and running when even Kerry says we will stay the course."

The German army advancing into Russia was met by swarms of Russian deserters but still lost the war. When we went into Vietnam, very few American forces deserted to the enemy, while many Vietcong deserted their forces. But we still lost the war.

You must be living in a truly isolated environment. Here are some links:

You are improving in that you are looking at "numbers", but you're only looking at the numbers that you want to look at, numbers that do not mean very much. For that matter, why are you going on about Saddam's deserters? Saddam is in jail, what's he got to do with our current problems?
