Franken uses a lot of humor in his writings. But he does get his point across. I have read "Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot" and was particularly impressed by his argument on how the tax burden is being shifted to the lower classes by the raising of SS taxes even as income-taxes are being cut for (mainly) folks with higher income. Personally, I would rate Franken as average. Certainly, there are a lot better writers like Paul Krugman, Joe Conason or even Jim Hightower.
