One needs a balance between head and heart. Without both, each will lead to destruction.

The fundamentalists cannot bare to dampen their beliefs with critical thinking. They romanticize of their missions from God and choose not to interrupt their ecstasy and hubris with intelligent thoughts. It's a lovely way to avoid all responsibility........They simply claim that they are doing the work of God.

Serious thought leads to ambiguity. It seems many people are uncomfortable with ambiguity. Black and white, good and bad, are unambiguous. To some it's easier to believe, and much less mentally strenuous, than it is to ponder
