E- re: "When I say something, I mean it." from another venue: #reply-20025724 GWB has said hundreds of things that he did not mean, including the above - maybe he's misoverestimating himself. here's what he really meant... we've all heard the phrase used hundreds of times in the same emotional context by the same type of "strict-parent figure" ...it's just a euphonism for... "when i make a threat, i follow through on it - so don't disobey me or i will punish you." parents (bosses) who use that tactic truly believe that they are doing what is best for the child (subordinate)... and why not? it worked on them - to keep them subordinate until it was their turn to be boss... (judge, jury and executioner). this superior vs. subordinate relationship is the basis... the definition, actually... of a dictatorship. the desire for equality in relationships is universal throughout all cultures and consequently, the biggest by-product of a dictatorial relationship is a bunch of angry and oppressed-feeling REBELS. it's easy for the angry and oppressed to follow a violent leader in a rebellion against the dictator but violence and murder also consumes the soul of the oppressed. it steals their innocence and self-worth as living beings. it robs them of their integrity and their reason for living. they become what they hate and no growth for them or humanity results. the only life enhancing path out of the vicious cycle of violence, murders and oppression is for a benevolent leader to unite the rebels in a peaceful, non-violent campaign of disobedience to disempower the dictator. we have GWB to thank for creating millions of rebels.
