I think that it's a mistake to think that John Kerry is a progressive. He is a "liberal" in somewhat the same way that Bill Clinton was a "liberal". Neither are truly liberal. Both are moderates. Both are politicians.

Better alternatives to GW without any doubt but neither Kerry or Clinton, although smarter than GW, will ever be mistaken for courageous iconoclasts. They, like GW, are politicians first. Kerry's political maneuverings over the past few months seem to put to rest the image of a young anti-establishment activist. He's mainstream (which is a blessing given what we've got now)...nothing more or nothing less.
