Where is "love the troops"? You cannot tell all those who served the country honorably, that they have not. Wrong message to the vets. Your statement "He's no longer one of them" speaks of discarding something when you are done with it. sheer nonsensical thinking. All our veterans are as valuable as those who are currently active.

Augustus, are we really so naive that we can't understand how the internet and the smear political process works? How many ex-vet wives and how many ex-vets are there? Do you think that ANY of them could write ANY kind of letter and get it circulated, no matter how partisan and one sided it was? The fact is that Kerry's post-combat service position on the Vietnam war was CORRECT. There were atrocities, American soldiers were dying in vain, Vietnamese were suffering horribly and it was all for NOTHING. Only the military/industrial contractors, the lifers in the military and the politicians were benefiting. The real price was being paid by men like the men serving with Kerry. If anyone says that Kerry's truth demeaned the service of their spouse or of themselves, then they should face that truth, not deny it. I'd welcome a discussion of the TRUTH of the Vietnam war and how that compares to the position that Kerry took. Would any of those who are parading smear articles care to engage in that? Lorne? Silly Jake Straw? Anyone? Anyone? Buehler? I'm surprised at you Augustus; I know you think better than that.
