Note I didn't say I thought Regan was one of the best. I said that he was "one of the most beloved and respected inhabitants of the White House." I don't think you can deny that whether you like him or not.

My own feelings are that most politicians are pretty much alike, Dem, Repub and not just in the US. They are usually not the type of people you would want to "hang" with, and get to where they are by a combination of lineage, manipulation and lies.

I believe Gore would be pretty much along most of the international roads that Bush has taken. I tend to think that Gore would have taken a "better" environmental road, a different economic road that one could argue was better or worse.

My desires are to get real debate out there and hope that we have candidates who can express real programs and have full disclosure if the electorate decides to do any due diligence.

Bashing and praising, as we have on these boards, usually becomes just a name calling thing. I agree with much of your post but when you get into the fine print, one could argue that the democrats go over board on spending when it comes to red tape programs while Repubs waste money on corporate welfare and welfare for the rich.

For us "moderates" and centrists, I'd like to be able to take the best from both, and there is some good on both sides, and kick out the extreme views.

Note - very little talk so far about "streamlining" government so, no matter who wins, hold onto your wallet.
