The Kurds seem to be able to set up a functioning democratic type government. Why do you feel the Sunni or the Shia cannot? Turkey also has done this successfully. jdn

Time will tell if we have shot ourselves in the foot, or succeeded brilliantly... only one or the other? it could just be a beginning I highly doubt we will be there as we are now in '10, 12 or 15 years' nor did I say or believe it was ever a 'cost effective' move but I do think there should be some re-payment
