[the ad blips I saw gave me that impression]

Never heard it, but I have heard Franken for quite some time. I live, sometimes to my chagrin, in New York, a bit north of the city. When Franken was on SNL, I spent a lot of time in the city. I have seen him plenty of times in a variety of settings. I never understood why anyone thinks this guy is funny. His humor is neither clever nor inciteful. Even when I was a leftist I didn't think he was funny. I am not sure (maybe because I was a leftist), but it seems to me in those Ed Koch days Franken was not terribly political at all. So I don't think I reject him purely because of his political bias. I just think the guy is a comedic light-weight. The left needs a smarter guy to take on Rush. I mean c'mon, terms like "Feminazi," ring and zing! I don't think Al Franken's "big, fat idiot" humor will appeal to many people other than tweens and teens (and chronological adults who think like them).
