It touches home a lot. I thought maybe you would share it with the readers on the computer so they can get a feel for what OUR HOME TOWN MEN & WOMEN are feeling and going through, pleas let me know if you do!!! in my eyes my son is and always will be a hero just for being himself, as is all the men & women in our war. Sincerely, Gayle O'Brien frayle@adelphia.net Hey mom, What a crazy couple days we have had 10 wounded and three got sent to Germany. You ant on a mission almost became a mother of just a daughter. We we on a mission and my truck got IED's on the right side, then all of a sudden two RPG's hit the left side of my truck, one exploded 8 inches from my face,if it hadn't been for a steel plate, you would not be talking to me. I can't believe I am not dead, the other one exploded right under my drivers seat, i thought he wa dead, but just got knocked out, it blew me right out. We hit a building then I told my guys to get out, the hum v was completely ingulfed in flames, and we had it loaded with LAWs(rockets) ammo and shit. My gunner jumped out and forgot to get the machine gun out he was so scared. So the iraqi's started blowing ak-47's at us , I had to make two trips back to the vehicle to get all our stuff. And run my guys, I only had one freeze up, he would not get out of the hum v. and when I dragged him out he wouldn't shoot, layed on the ground shaking. We took some wounded bad. I don't even know how my team made it, really mom no idea we should all be dead. But the good news I got put in for a Bronze Star Medal for valor. So we then went out last night got a shit load of wounded, it is crazy everywhere is like fallujah now, they attack us every night on base, and the minute we leave to go on a mission they are waiting in ambush spots. The shit is knee deep around here. I will be really surprise how many make it out of here, this is definatly my generations vietnam, everything is so similaier. Well mom I gotta go, but I am ok, your son is a hero. Michael Doucette, sgt., infantry
