canyon, you say:
"" I pay attention to the Iraqis who are voting against us with their lives and the lack of Iraqis who want to vote for our policies with their lives.""

I say:
you are wrong, this is not a true statement, thousands of Iraqi are dying at the hands of the terrorist's and the criminal types, specifically the new Iraqi police, the new Iraqi militia types, and civilians not giving terrorist support.

you say:
""The alternative to "forcing them" to see it our way is to get out of the way and let them find their own path.""

I say:
that doesn't work as evidenced by the 1993 attack on the WTC and eventually the 9/11 attack on the WTC, not mention all the other terrorist attacks around the world against US interests or other free society, easy targets, ie Bali bombings, Madrid bombings.....
and of course the ultimate manifestation of todays terrorist accomplishments..The Taliban of Afghanistan.

you say:
""That's the way it will be despite all our "tooth fairy" simpleton thinking.""

I say:
the administration has a fairly sophisticated foreign policy, it can be read word for word if one wishes, just use your yahoo or google search engine.
unfortunately, our President has a problem articulating that FP as well as our goals in Iraq.......
I don't lump you into his category so there is no excuse for your apparent lack of comprehension re our efforts to destroy terrorism and gain a major foothold in the middle east.

You really are an Idealist in that you think we, the USA, can achieve our political goals thru appeasement, negotiation and compromise, it doesn't work that way and you know that from your VN experiences but are unwilling to get your mind around it....

the NVA, VC and other political extensions of Ho Chi Minh gained their objectives thru force and terror..it works for a given situation.

it is not the same situation in Iraq, please don't confuse the two because of a few similarities...

BTW, its ok to be an idealist, it is noble and gratifying, you don't strike me as an pragmatist at all...most pragmatist are pro-active and right wing........

regards, Chuck
