By reducing the world to the strident left and the strident right in perpetual combat to the death, you alienate the center that decides who sits in the White House.

To each their own - I am a big believer in the undiluted First Amendment. The more voices the better. But I have seen strident rightwingers get into power much, much more the last 30 years than any strident leftwinger.

Carter won in the anti-Nixon backlash, and Clinton ran in the center. Every other Democrat failed.

Why? Because the right knows how to play to the middle when they need to. A lesson to remember.
