NEW YORK (CBS.MW) -- Shares of Brillian (BRLC), a maker of high-definition rear-projection televisions, surged Thursday after the company said it has received its first orders for new televisions based on its proprietary liquid crystal on silicon technology. In a statement, the company said the first order from an unnamed consumer is for minimum shipment quantities of about $6 million, due for delivery in the third quarter. Shares were last trading up 26.2 percent at $10.60. A total of 132,999 shares had changed hands in the session so far, above its average full-day volume of 25,500.
