The vocal left didn't seem to mind if Clinton went on vacation any time he felt like it, but they do seem to make an issue of it if Bush does.

But the public expects the Democrats to be the limp-wristed, soft-on-defense, lay-on-the-ropes party.

OTOH the Republicans are supposed to be strong on defense, so the standards are higher for them. And now we find out that the Bush administration was asleep at the wheel, so the myth is punctured.

The article I posted from tonight about the CIA warning in 1995 wasn't news to any of us here...and certainly Clinton knew of it as well.

And if it's news we're looking for, Ashcroft's revelation concerning 9/11 commission member, Ms. Gorelick, and how she actually assisted in creating and enforcing the barriers between criminal investigations and CI investigations within the FBI, is certainly far more pertinent than an ambiguous, open ended PDB containing no actionable intelligence.
