Dells first priorities are efficiency, cost savings, reliability.
(have to sell something before people can complain)

Does it work?

HPQ Sales $73 bil, employees 146,000 Sales per empl=$520,000
Dell sales $41 bil, employees 46,000 Sales per empl=$900,000
HPQ Net profit per employee=$210
Dell net profit per employee= $57,000

Hpq will do better now they had a bad year- they have lots of bad years.

Hi Kakamongus,

By the way, I can point out a lot of dumb engineers as well. :)

Here's the problem...it's not only a question of poor customer service, it's a question of whether this represents the tip of the iceberg. It's been know for sometime that Dell isn't a very good place to work. Employees are not happy campers. Michael Dell and Kevin Rollins are not seen in a favorable light by the employees. The employee situation was brought to light through surveys that were conducted.

It's interesting to note that when the enterprise IT managers told Dell that they were displeased with the offshore tech support, Dell quickly decided to route their calls to U.S. based technicians. Managing a large corporation, such as Dell, isn't an easy task, and can come "unglued" over a period of time.

By the way, the stock's price and the company's problems are not necessarily related. Wall Streets determines the stock's price.

Oh well, enough of this chit chat. :)
