Al is fine for wiring -- the problem is dummies who don't size circuits properly -- there's no excuse for that. There is a code ...

I agree on aluminum wiring, but there is one area where substituting away from copper is superior, IMO, and that's in plumbing. PEX plumbing is now being used in many homes being built including million dollar homes. The reason isn't even cost but rather quality. This is not the cheap polybutyl plumbing that had such problems earlier, but durable polyethylene. Each fixture is home run to a manifold providing the homeowner with a first rate plumbing system. I expect we'll see more and more of it.
