That's the way I feel about common stocks now. ("you have to sell them short from time to time") Ten years ago if anyone had said I would feel that way I would have said they were out of their minds.

Well, I think we are in a period when buy and hold is the better strategy for commodities. Of course that is never true if you are actually buying futures contracts. But having discovered that I am among the 95% of people who lose money on commodity futures and not the 5% who win, I don't do the contracts myself.

EDIT: Some people say that 100% of speculators who buy commodities futures lose 100% of their money. I didn't lose 100%. I just lost about 50% of all my investible funds (sixteen years ago).
