this is true about how we are viewed by the rest of the world and it is grievous to me, as a Christian ...

>>Bush came pretty close to proclaiming the fight against radical Islam the divine mission of the United States. He may not have meant that, but you can rest assured that is just how much of the Islamic world will view his comments, especially in light of his actions the next day on behalf of Israel. You can also bet it will be read that way by the American religious right, which sees in defending Israel a way to bring about Armageddon and the second coming of Christ.<<

I used to say about Bush "what can he be thinking." But now I am pretty sure the fellow isn't. I try not to think about it very much -- it makes my head hurt.

>>"We will not waver in the face of fear and intimidation," said the president.<<

frankly, I think he is the architect of the above --

Once the patriot act was passed and they quit fighting about the second one has anyone noticed any raising of the terror levels??

Was kind of thinking the same thing about the way they are dealing with the "insurgents."

it is clear to me that the writer is quite clueless about what he calls "the Muslim world". IMHO it is quite unfortunate that such misguided information is published in established newspapers.

Luckily for us - the "Muslim world" is not cut from one die and there are so many flavors to it that SI is not the place to account for them.

As one example not all muslims are arabs and not all arabs are belonging to the same kind of Islam and certain sects will kill each other in the name of GOD and his messenger ….. and there is much more

All those clueless writing bring much more damage upon us than whatever Bush may utter.

Every time I read some criticism of one doings hurting the “feelings” of the Muslim world to benefit the Jews or Israel I take it as a sublime instigation of hatred of Jews.

May be I would remind many that after the Iberian peninsula was “cleaned” from Muslim the Inquisition was hard at work destroying the Jewish communities there for not adopting Christianity and blamed everything that went wrong (from ills to natural disasters) on the Jews - who were considered “Muslim Collaborators”

Now there is new twist and the party to blame are again the Jews and what ever they are associated with.

Wonder why Constantinople massacre of Christians happened on the hand of the "Muslim world" – after all it was an almost Jew free metropolis ….. and many other instances were "muslim" slaughtered Christians in “jewish free” territory
