Name one time Rather ever changed a story to fit his "bias". You won't find one. If Rather is personally a bit liberal, so what? He's also a very serious patriotic journalist who doesn't let his personal feelings get in the way of telling the truth. Totally unlike the rightwing spinmeisters of the media who have no qualms whatsoever about openly lying again and again and again. That's real serious journalism versus deliberate rightwing propaganda. Big difference.
