So far, the admin has been wrong about everything. The press isn't making enough of this one:

mercurynews.com

Slinking back again (after Bremmer and Powell) to the UN for H-E-L-P! What happened to:

- not asking permission
- the UN as immaterial
- unilateralism
- the only superpower
- Old Europe
- PNAC

"The Bush administration lined up on Friday behind U.N. envoy Lakhdar Brahimi's plan for a caretaker government to succeed the U.S. administration in Iraq.

President Bush welcomed the proposal after meeting at the White House with British Prime Minister Tony Blair...."

======
In fact, the admin was not just welcoming the proposal, it was sitting around with its thumb in its ear UNTIL the UN proposal came around. Of course some belligerent Neocon element could still be running around trying to derail anything that smacks of internationalism.
